Day 25 and 26 cocktail in Linz, playing with LEGO and going to the cinema
In the evening when I came to Linz I was invited for a cocktail by some local CS-girls, was really nice company and I even got a massage from two of the girls at the same time 😛 On Wednesday I did some sightseeing with my host. We went to a technical museum where I did everything from playing with LEGO, seeing the universe in 3D and writing the word “couchsurfing” using only my eyes :-D. They had a machine to write text with brainwaves too but the guy operating it was off that day unfortunately… After this we went and saw the new Harry Potter movie (my host worked at the Cinema so we got free tickets and all the popcorn we could eat :-P)
Cocktail time with Melanie and her two CS-guests from Italy
Massage from Melanie and Uli (my host)
Outside a museum in cool blue colors in the night 🙂
Some girls that were taking tickets at the cinema… I tried to recruit them to CS 😀
Yeeeay… LEGO 😀
Day 23 to 25 Munich and arrival in Linz
Hi guys, First sorry that the pictures where gone for a few days… did an experiment on the blog that didn’t turn out that well.. they should all be back now though 🙂
Spent Sunday-Tuesday this week in Munich meeting a lot of nice people, going to beer-gardens and even doing some tourism! (found a free tour :-P)
Have had a quite interesting hitchhiking day today from Munich to Linz. The day started with that three really cute lawyer student girls picked me up just outside Munich… they took me to a gas-station where two “hippies” picked me up in their flower-power inspired truck… they drove me all the way to Salzburg where I was picked up by a Romanian car-sales man… the car he drove was perhaps not in PERFECT condition (the breaks kind of didn’t work, the exhaust-pipe almost fell of and the gear-box had a very interesting sound when you changed gears…) but he drove me all the way outside Linz where a young mother picked me up and drove me into the centre of the city…
Oh, and continue to write comments, it is always fun to read them!
Marco, my first CS-host in Munich
Some guys riding on the everlasting wave on the river in central Munich… kind of cool!
‘Me and Chris (my second host in Munich) having dinner in a beer-garden… I hope you notice we even had radishes (healthy stuff :-P) to our pretzels…
Just arrived in Linz… and what is the first I see… well some girls doing some cool street-art… of course I take a picture 😀
Day 22 Party in Stuttgart
Whohoo! Spent the weekend in Stuttgart and had loads of fun. In the day my host took me to show the plans for reconstructing the whole train station in Stuttgart. (He is an engineer working on constructions of concrete bridges.) Quite an impressive project, they are going to turn the station 90 degrees and build it underground to free up space in the city. After some sightseeing we went to a Ska music festival in the evening. Was loads of people and loads of fun. Met up with a group of 6 other CS:ers and partied as there was no tomorrow… fun!
Me and my host on the top of the Stuttgart train station, we had a view of the whole city!
Saw some guys who where “walking” (rather jumping) around in the city on these things… looked quite fun 😀
Me and my newly tattooed arms 😀
At the Ska festival in the evening… was really a lot of people, good music and fun 🙂
The CS:ers are the festival…
Day 20 Windsurfing in Cologne
Hi guys,
This day I went windsurfing in Cologne. I had written requests to several people and one girl was going to do a lot of water sports during the day that I was staying in Cologne (Köln). It was everything from kayaking and rowing to windsurfing. When they got to the windsurfing part I actually joined in… was quite fun even though I must admit that it probably has been too long since last time I did it :-D.
The girl I was joining for the water sports during the day.
My host had studied art and showed me a part of the decoration in her flat 🙂

In the evening I went out with my host, the girl from the day and another CS-dude I met up with… was a pretty cool bar we ended up in 😀 From left: Sports girl, CS dude, me, my host
Day 17 and 18 Salsa in Amsterdam, party in Gent
Hi guys!
The last two days have been around a lot of parties. First I went to Amsterdam in the Netherlands to this Salsa club with some guys, a lot of fun, and then the day after to Gent in Belgium for a big street-festival. (Plus that it was Belgium’s national holiday which meant big fireworks!)
Me and Marta before the Salsa-evening
The red-light district… no… it’s not that it has become super fashionable to have big windows with red lights suddenly…
Menno and Priscilla, my hosts in Amsterdam!
On our way back towards Belgium!
Back in Gent, really to go out partying!
The fireworks where actually kind of amazing… this picture doesn’t really do it justice…
Us sitting and watching the fireworks… the dog is called Napoleon and apparently he thought I needed to have my ear cleaned…
Some really nice girls that I med during the night. They where in a group that did virtual reality theater… kind of cool!
Day 15 & 16 chilling in Leiden
This has been two days with some time to decompress and recharge the batteries… Klara and I spent most of the Saturday just reading books, watching movies and catching up on e-mail. We also went to a nice food-market and bought lots for vegetables and made some nice dinner.
On Sunday we took a long bicycle ride (about 70 km or so) to the ocean and went around a lot… was great but i do have some muscle ache afterwards 🙂
Windmills are kind of a big thing in Holland… here is the official one that Rembrandts father worked in. (Or rather, this is a replica ;-))
Clara reading a book in the living room
Meeting up with some of Klara’s friends in the evening.
Me at the beach…observe the Kite-surfer in the background… there where about 10 of them out there at the same time :-)
Cycling in Holland… (yea… it was not as fast as the guy to the right :-D)
Klara in front of some sand-dunes… these little fellows are what keeps the ocean from flooding the Netherlands.
We found some guys doing line-dancing by the beach… so of course I tried to join in 😀
The beach boulevard… you kind of had to watch out for the birds though… 😀
Klara taking a well deserved break after all our cycling!
Day 14 reaching Amsterdam
Amsterdam – a city that definitely has a reputation… I went around some in the red light district and yes… the smell of drugs is thick in the air, there are brothels everywhere and a lot of stoned people going around. Guess the world need a place like that somewhere as well.
In the evening I met up with my host Klara and her friend Laura and we went to a “fight cancer” concert. Was quite nice actually, lots of people and dancing! Later in the night we went to meet up with some couchsurfers at a bar, met lots of fun people and got invited to a party on Monday through that as well 😀
An interesting hotel in Amsterdam… strangely enough I didn’t see so many people drinking coffee in there 😉
I am not quite used to McDonalds having signs about that you can’t use drugs in there 😉
Laura, a friend of my host
The “Fight Cancer” event has just started… the DJ is playing full speed 😀
Day 13 Hanging out in Gent (Belgium)
Hi all, I reached Gent today, hitchhiking here was quite a lot easier, had one guy drive me out of Luxembourg and to a big gas station, there I found a trucker driving cheese to Bruges who took me a long stretch of the way and dropped me off at a big gas-station. Here I found another truck who drove me to the outskirts of the city and then I just had to walk a bit to get to the centrum (a couple of kilometers).
I still get that delirious joy-feeling every time someone stops and picks me up. I guess one reason is that I smile so much when I am looking for rides that my whole body tunes into being really happy or something… well a great feeling at least!
Me, my host Britt and the guy to the left is who I am going to stay with on Tuesday when I get back to Gent 😀
Day 12 Luxembourg gets a visit!
This day I had to take quite a bit more rides to get to my destination… I think I was up to 7 or 8 before I actually arrived there… (most of them where quite short distance). I also failed to get a host (was probably posting a bit too late) so I had to stay at a hostel. One thing I was thinking about during the evening when I went around in Luxembourg was how incredibly happy I was… I almost started crying because I felt so happy… strange huh?
Oh, and I hadn’t eaten anything during the whole day… but I couldn’t have cared less because everything just felt so perfect… I LOVE hitchhiking, every time a car stops I become SOOO happy!
Found some sort of lower area in the middle of Luxembourg, look how the houses to the left seem to be “built into” the mountain… quite cool 😀
Went to the old town at night and saw some street-artists performing, they where quite good even if you can’t really see it here.
Day 11 my first hitchhiking experience and party in Strasbourg
Hi!
Finally I have done my first hitchhiking ever… went by car from Basel to Strasbourg only by hitchhiking… quite cool! It took me three different rides to get there, with the third guy driving me almost all the way to the doorstep of my host for the night… (or rather, my host-to-be). In the end I got lots of offers on hosting so I went with a guy (Gabriel) that had a party arranged the same evening, we had a blast! (The first guy (Pascal) was super nice too though, but he was a bit too tired to go for a party that night.
The guy who I hitchhiked most of the way to my host in Strasbourg with, really cool!
Pascal and me, look at the collection of bracelets from Africa in the background!
Me and my host Gabriel out partying!
Fireworks to celebrate the 14th of July (some sort of revolution or something in France)
Someone had made a light-play on the cathedral with music… quite impressive!
The CS-guys that where staying with Gabriel (the other five are Italians)
Me and Kristin, I am going to visit her in Germany next week as the plan stands right now (she promised to cook me dinner 😉
