Day 119 Climbing in caves

This night I was climbing in some caves by Lakatnik (the cave was called Temnata). Was pretty cool but not quite what I had expected… I kind of thought it would be a nice stroll in a cool cave… naah… it turned out being bouldering climbing  up to 10 meters without any safety equipment… I should probably add that the walls where slippery and my shoes really bad so I basically had to climb with only my hands…

Injuries? Well I had a few bumps on the head, ripped a few holes in my t-shirt, have bruises all over and so forth. One guy hurt one of his legs a bit and the guy who took us had some problems with a broken rib… but no serious injuries… ehm….

A part of the free-climbing… you can’t really see it but it was actually pretty high 🙂

IMG_1349

Or sliding through some quite narrow passages like this one… at one point I was stuck without being able to breathe for half a minute before I managed to push myself through the opening…

IMG_1351

Down there you see some of the water… we where jumping over openings like this one… and it was quite slippery… the longest jumps where at least a bit over a meter long… and quite small things to land on and jump from…

IMG_1352

Here we are down by an underground river trying to jump between rocks to continue…

IMG_1353

Some parts where quite muddy….

IMG_1360

Outside the cave… leaning on a fence… ehm… and some of the bars where already gone…

IMG_1362

Eh, this bridge was more scary when we went back in the day and you could actually see how bad the state was… when we went there it was pitch dark so I guess it was a bit lucky we didn’t fall into the open holes… 🙂

The guys I was there with, my host to the right, our guide the the left.

Day 112 to 115 in Bucharest

After Oradea (and with a small stop in Cluj and a loooong train-ride of 11 hours… should have hitchhiked… would have been faster) I finally arrived in Bucharest. There I met up with Anca and went to some club for some partying, was fun!

IMG_1343

A big crowd… lots of dancing.

IMG_1340

Day 105 to 111 In Oradea

The first stop after Sweden was Slovakia (Bratislava). The weather was cold and chilly but I had set my mind to get to Oradea in the same day (two countries away in Bulgaria). It took me from 2 pm to 1 am to get there (11 hours of hitchhiking) and I did meet up with some cool dudes (like the Checks who where in a bus-trip and really couldn’t understand the word “No” to drinking… in the end they did give up though :D)

With the Slovaks in the bus

IMG_1310

They actually lit the whole bar-disk on fire… but i only caught a little bit with the camera… pretty cool party place though!

IMG_1312

why use one phone when you have two?

Fireworks for the 25 year-old!

The cake… (baked by her mother, impressive!)

IMG_1319

A concert in Oradea… the group was called Republic and was connected to the Hungarian party… in Romania… a bit confusing at first when everyone starting singing the Hungarian national anthem… and they where all Romanians…IMG_1322

With Andrea in the Republic concert.

IMG_1325

There were a lot of people 😀

Day 92 to 104 Visiting Sweden again

Another of those stopovers in Sweden. Had time to party with my student orchestra, celebrate my birthday, attend some CS-meetings. Meet up with friends etc.

The first thing I did when I came home was to attend a party with the Orchestra Kårsdraget… here some of the girls are performing a nice song 🙂

Some more of the Orchestra party IMG_1286 My best friend and Anna at my birthday party in Stockholm.IMG_1292

Day 87 to 89 Oradea

After the mountains I was supposed to make a quick stop in Oradea on my way north towards Krakow… but it turned out that my host there was so good at persuasion that I stayed one day extra… not quite sure how it happened 🙂 Had a great time hanging out with my host and a surfer she had from the US staying at the same time.

One of those rare times where EVERYONE actually smiles at the same time on the photo… must have been because we had such a great time!

IMG_1280 THIS is what I would call the “Colgate smile” 😉

Day 83 to 86 In the national park of Retezat mountains

Thanks to Florina I got a tip of a cool guy that lived in the middle a rural area near to a national park. He has a very liberal view on hosting, actually when you come to the door it says” Welcome in, it is open… I am probably not at home :-D” so… he kind of hosts people even if they don’t ask him… or meet him or anything like that… but if he IS around he will give you food as well… like this delicious food we had when we where there. (There where people from all over the world staying there… pretty cool!) He also had a mountain cabin within the park where also stayed for two days with lots of different people… cool!

Mihai in the middle arranging breakfast for all the hungry CS:ers.

IMG_1212

Home-made tea that we got.. (most of what he gave us was picked from trees in the neighborhood or ecologically made)

IMG_1214

The gate to Mihai’s place… kind of welcoming huh 😀

IMG_1216

Was kind of cold up in the mountains, but Mihai had extra clothes that we could borrow!

IMG_1221

Two American girls that we met in the mountains!

IMG_1222

Well, it WAS cold up there 🙂

IMG_1229

The couchsurfin gilrs outside the hut… yea… it was quite cold as I said 😛

IMG_1230

Happy surfergirl!

IMG_1231

Is she making out with he chimney? Naaah, she is warming her nose of course!

IMG_1244

Outside the mountain house… check the writings on the door 🙂

IMG_1247

This is where I showered up in the mountains… the water came directly from a glacier… SO cold!

IMG_1251

Flyyyying in the mountains!

IMG_1256

There where LOTS of dogs at the place… and they where so cute!

IMG_1272

Day 81 to 82 Brasov

After Bucharest I went to Brasov. I met up with these two CS:ers there who where really nice and showed us around the whole city. (Anca decided to come along for a while after Bucharest).

Welcome to the Movie-star city of Brasov 😉

IMG_1183

Trying out my new hat… according to Anca I looked like Indiana Jones… hmm… perhaps she was trying to be a bit nice 😉

IMG_1196

I am still not totally convinced… (even though they had that nice sign…)

IMG_1199

Our hosts in Brasov… ok… perhaps it was the best city in the world anyway 😀

IMG_1210

Day 76 to 80 Bucharest

My stay in Bucharest was filled with everything from meeting new people during an open museum night to revisiting old friends from Stockholm. I had so much fun that I ended up staying a few days more than I had planned to… not so much due to the city but rather due to all the nice people I met…

My first host Vera to the left and some friends of hers… the guy to the right really liked Sweden, he even had ordered a plate to his car with the letters “SWE” 😀

IMG_1140

One of Ceausescu’s more crazy projects… to build a huuuge house for himself. (Actually the only building larger used to be the Pentagon in Washington DC…)

IMG_1145

Me and some locals… (naah, kidding, they where dressed up for the festivities of Bucharest 550 years old as a city)

IMG_1146

Two CS:ers I met during the second day. The girl to the right is Anca who ended up hosting me for a few days.

IMG_1147

Me and Anca sweaty after having danced Salsa with a lot of other CS:ers!IMG_1153

Anyone heard of KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken?) Well… welcome to the Bucharest version 😉

IMG_1169

Uuupps, that was a bad spot to stand at… (don’t worry… the stone statue survived…)

IMG_1171

Meeting up with Florina who lived in Sweden before… fun to see her again!
