Day 112 to 115 in Bucharest
After Oradea (and with a small stop in Cluj and a loooong train-ride of 11 hours… should have hitchhiked… would have been faster) I finally arrived in Bucharest. There I met up with Anca and went to some club for some partying, was fun!
A big crowd… lots of dancing.
Day 105 to 111 In Oradea
The first stop after Sweden was Slovakia (Bratislava). The weather was cold and chilly but I had set my mind to get to Oradea in the same day (two countries away in Bulgaria). It took me from 2 pm to 1 am to get there (11 hours of hitchhiking) and I did meet up with some cool dudes (like the Checks who where in a bus-trip and really couldn’t understand the word “No” to drinking… in the end they did give up though :D)
With the Slovaks in the bus
They actually lit the whole bar-disk on fire… but i only caught a little bit with the camera… pretty cool party place though!
why use one phone when you have two?
Fireworks for the 25 year-old!
The cake… (baked by her mother, impressive!)
A concert in Oradea… the group was called Republic and was connected to the Hungarian party… in Romania… a bit confusing at first when everyone starting singing the Hungarian national anthem… and they where all Romanians…![]()
With Andrea in the Republic concert.
There were a lot of people 😀
Day 87 to 89 Oradea
After the mountains I was supposed to make a quick stop in Oradea on my way north towards Krakow… but it turned out that my host there was so good at persuasion that I stayed one day extra… not quite sure how it happened 🙂 Had a great time hanging out with my host and a surfer she had from the US staying at the same time.
One of those rare times where EVERYONE actually smiles at the same time on the photo… must have been because we had such a great time!
THIS is what I would call the “Colgate smile” 😉
Me and my host
Completely posing 🙂
Watching a movie with the girls… and yea… I know I look a bit smug on that photo 😛
This is what happens when you play Pool with a girl that find the chalk-piece…
Helping out to let the girls to some sit-ups… 😉
Andrea is actually lifting me here… (Ok, she does have a black belt in Karate but still… I am quite heavy :D)
Letting also Andrea do some sit-ups 😛 (I am suuuuch a nice guy!)
No hands 😛
Day 83 to 86 In the national park of Retezat mountains
Thanks to Florina I got a tip of a cool guy that lived in the middle a rural area near to a national park. He has a very liberal view on hosting, actually when you come to the door it says” Welcome in, it is open… I am probably not at home :-D” so… he kind of hosts people even if they don’t ask him… or meet him or anything like that… but if he IS around he will give you food as well… like this delicious food we had when we where there. (There where people from all over the world staying there… pretty cool!) He also had a mountain cabin within the park where also stayed for two days with lots of different people… cool!
Mihai in the middle arranging breakfast for all the hungry CS:ers.
Home-made tea that we got.. (most of what he gave us was picked from trees in the neighborhood or ecologically made)
The gate to Mihai’s place… kind of welcoming huh 😀
Was kind of cold up in the mountains, but Mihai had extra clothes that we could borrow!
Two American girls that we met in the mountains!
Well, it WAS cold up there 🙂
The couchsurfin gilrs outside the hut… yea… it was quite cold as I said 😛
Happy surfergirl!
Is she making out with he chimney? Naaah, she is warming her nose of course!
Outside the mountain house… check the writings on the door 🙂
This is where I showered up in the mountains… the water came directly from a glacier… SO cold!
Flyyyying in the mountains!
There where LOTS of dogs at the place… and they where so cute!
Day 81 to 82 Brasov
After Bucharest I went to Brasov. I met up with these two CS:ers there who where really nice and showed us around the whole city. (Anca decided to come along for a while after Bucharest).
Welcome to the Movie-star city of Brasov 😉
Trying out my new hat… according to Anca I looked like Indiana Jones… hmm… perhaps she was trying to be a bit nice 😉
I am still not totally convinced… (even though they had that nice sign…)
Our hosts in Brasov… ok… perhaps it was the best city in the world anyway 😀
Day 76 to 80 Bucharest
My stay in Bucharest was filled with everything from meeting new people during an open museum night to revisiting old friends from Stockholm. I had so much fun that I ended up staying a few days more than I had planned to… not so much due to the city but rather due to all the nice people I met…
My first host Vera to the left and some friends of hers… the guy to the right really liked Sweden, he even had ordered a plate to his car with the letters “SWE” 😀
One of Ceausescu’s more crazy projects… to build a huuuge house for himself. (Actually the only building larger used to be the Pentagon in Washington DC…)
Me and some locals… (naah, kidding, they where dressed up for the festivities of Bucharest 550 years old as a city)
Two CS:ers I met during the second day. The girl to the right is Anca who ended up hosting me for a few days.
Me and Anca sweaty after having danced Salsa with a lot of other CS:ers!
Me with a cute puppy I met in Bucharest.
Anyone heard of KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken?) Well… welcome to the Bucharest version 😉
Uuupps, that was a bad spot to stand at… (don’t worry… the stone statue survived…)
Meeting up with Florina who lived in Sweden before… fun to see her again!
Day 73 to 75 Craiova (Romania)
It was quite interesting to go from Serbia to Romania… in the end I actually stayed one night in Bulgaria on my way… tried everything from hitchhiking with a group of gypsies (who turned out to be really cool and nice people). To having to walk almost 15 km in the middle of the night in Bulgaria when I couldn’t find a ride… (but I finally did). To being offered a blowjob by a guy in the morning in Bulgaria when crossing over to Romania (I politely declined…) Well, then Craiova turned out to be a great place. Met these fun girls that showed me a round a bit in the beginning and have been staying with this cool dude that have really been the perfect host… have had so much fun!
Later on in the night when we where going back to his place we met up with a third guy who say that we had two guitars with us and suggested we should go to a park and play for a while… it ended up with us sitting there for several hours just playing… really cool!
I was stuck with a guy on the road for about 40 minutes while these road workers was shoveling dirt down on the road (and look at the safety of that… just next to the edge, welcome to Serbia 😉
A truck driver bought me lunch (and I saw these nice grapes hanging in the restaurant… so I had to take a photo… after I had tried one of course :D)
Going towards the crossing to Romania (just after the guy had offered me that blowjob) I came cross a group of goats on the road….
There are loads of dogs running around everywhere in Craiova… but they are really friendly
My host in Craiova to the right and a friend of his that he has a band together with… great dude 😀
Me on a pub with a live band (and yep, I am writing this in the pub)
The band playing in the pub.
The guy who we played with in the park
Ion playing in the park (a friend of my host)
Alex playing (my host)
